The IAOD feature
program of the month is the Asian Community
Awareness Initiative, which is a culturally
sensitive intervention to increase organ donor
registration among Asian American Pacific Islanders.
The goal of this project is to measure the
effectiveness of a culturally sensitive outreach and
education program regarding organ donation.
Information about diabetes, current transplant wait
list and donation statistics will be shared in the
form of interventions at community events within the
Asian American community. Among the program
objectives are building community awareness about
donation, promoting positive responses to donation,
and increasing the number of Asian American Pacific
Islanders who register to be donors.
