Grant Specialist

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position provides assistance with research of funding sources and the writing, submission, and follow-up of grant proposals for IAOD programs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. At the direction of the Manager, Business and Grant Proposals, submit grants via corporate on-line submission systems and prepare proposal packages for print submissions
  2. Working with IAOD accounting department, assist in budget development and budget reconciliation process
  3. Assist in researching sources of funding, including but not limited to, corporate foundations, industry, philanthropic foundations
  4. Manage follow-up and correspondence with funding sources
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION/RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, related field or equivalent experience.
One year experience with grant writing in education or health-related organization required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

bullet Strong business writing skills and ability to write persuasive content
bullet Proficient in MS Office products
bullet Advanced Excel skills
bullet Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external staff
bullet Strong customer-service skills
bullet Excellent telephone skills
bullet Organizational ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
bullet Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines
bullet Strong proofreading skills and absolute attention to detail

Employment Policies:
Work will be evaluated after 6 months probationary period to assess employee’s ability to handle the job. The employee is hired for the term of the individual grant. Employment may be extended to other grants based on experience. All equipment is the property of IAOD and is assigned and distributed to IAOD employees for work purposes only. Management has the right to access any equipment on the premises as they see fit.
