The IAOD has
developed close partnerships with minority and
social service organizations such as The Council of
Asian Pacific Americans and the Arab American and
Chaldean Council, in order to raise awareness
amongst members of their community on organ
donation. The organization has also worked with
various mosques and churches and their congregations
to increase registry on the state organ donation
list and to dispel myths in their communities
involving organ and tissue donation.
The IAOD has also partnered with the business
community in southeast Michigan through such
organizations as the Arab American, Asian American
and Detroit Chamber of Commerce.
The IAOD has built outreach partnerships with many
local medical centers, including the Henry Ford
Health System, Harper University Hospital, Oakwood
Health System, the University of Michigan Transplant
Center and Wayne State University Medical School.
These partnerships have allowed an open flow of
information on best practices in the organ donation
field. They have also partnered with Gift of Life
Michigan, a local Organ Procurement Organization to
present a united front in the effort to dispel myths
and increase awareness on organ and tissue donation.
The IAOD also works with local colleges and
universities, including University of
Michigan-Dearborn, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor,
Henry Ford Community College, and Davenport
University to present new research materials for
their medical and pre-medical students.
Unions and corporations have also been major
partners with the IAOD in their workplace initiative
programs, including the UAW, DaimlerChrysler, Ford,
General Motors, and Compuware.
